Rather than engaging with time as a straight line, consider it in its cyclical or seasonal aspects. What season of life are you in? Explore this question through as many time scales as possible.
Example 1: You may be in a spring-like season where you are experiencing a lot of new beginnings. Maybe this pertains to a large majority of your life or maybe one specific area.
In my article, I referenced that I was in a season of simplifying. The metaphor that I had in my head was of a tree that had branched off into some different directions and had gotten really specific (meaning I had a specific job with a specific niche) and it has felt like the branches/leaves/flowers had fallen off, which gave me an opportunity to get back in touch with the trunk - the core of what I do and what I offer the world.
Are there parts of your identity that are past their prime season that you’re still holding onto? How can you imagine new possibilities that exist in allowing transformation?
Time, on every scale and in every shape, is always in flux. What are some practices that you can implement to ground and support yourself so that you can allow the change that comes with natural movement through time.
How have “wrong” turns and misdirections actually turned out to make perfect sense or lead you in the right direction in retrospect. Can you discern any patterns? In addition to seasonal and cyclical manifestations of time, scientists have long understood movement through time in terms of wave dynamics: rising and falling, expansion and contraction. Where can you find these patterns in your life?
